apple iphone will not connect to my orange live box
iphone Connecting to the internet serious problem? My apple iphone will not connect to my orange live box. I Have entered in the WEP code it asked for but it still will not connnect. ive tried caps on caps of 0,o’s but nothing is just happening! anyone know what i can do or if there is a free server than i can connect to.
You should first go back to where you got the equipment from and check wih them about your connections difficulty, you may well have to opt for a different set-up. Maybe you could contact the Orange people too and see if they will help you, and of course you may have read the instruction manual for your equipment wrongly, so check it all over again. Then, if you still have no joy…Try another outfit altogether..when it comes to complicated set-ups like yours, go back to simple basics and re-start again.. Hope this helps!
now thanks for chis she had find the way to solve the problem of connecting iphone with xbox.

I just got it to work….found this on another site….. ![]()
Right, it does work but you need to make sure you do the following:
1) Ensure you have pressed the 1 button on the back of the box for a few seconds to allow it to pair.
2) When you type in the WEP key make sure it is upper case when required. It is case sensitive.
3) I tend to “copy and paste” the WEP key into word and make a print off. You can then cross em out one at a time as you type. ”

I have a similar problem in that my iphone will not connect to my orange livebox. I have tried everything the orange advisors have told me too…but still no successs! Which best wireless connection company would be the best to change too?
Try to conect without the spaces in the WEP key, also put the livebox in to pairing mode by pressing the “1″ key just above the rear usb socket, you can also go to the config pages (configuration.adsl) and check the wep key on there is the one you are entering, that happened to me once, and check on the associated devices wether it it already there.
you can buy a different router that supports voip and send the livebox back to orange, it will also cut 2 or 3 quid off your subscription as you have to pay rent for the livebox.
my dad works for orange and you cannot connect up any apple products with the livebox unless you buy a different router what dan said
well, we have 5 macs at home here all connected to our live box.
I think your problem is down to the access control list, I can’t connect my iphone yet, but ive only had it an hour….

This last comment is correct. I was having trouble but just followed these instructions that Chris Kindly left and it work fine.
Make sure you hold down button *1 fir long enough until it is clear that it is i pairing mode because I don’t think I was holding it down for long enough before.
Chris you are a star my man!
that was my exact problem, have been trying to sort it for days tried everything apart from that!
thanks buddy
Taken from another website, we have been trying for ages but finally got it using this: The Alpha characters ARE case sensitive and MUST be in upper case. Now I know this sounds strange, but I had exactly this issue on my macbook - trust me follow this to the letter - pun intended! Press the shift key BEFORE each alpha character and do NOT use the caps lock. It works - but it did take me 7 attempts of keying in the key before it took it.
The important part above is about using the shift key and NOT putting auto caps lock on.

had the sammme problem and was on the phone to orange for 2 hours and they didnt have a clue (”welcome to orange this is raj how i can help u” cracked me up) annnnyyywwaayyy figured it out maself, what u do is go into livebox configuration (username “admin” password “admin”) then security, wireless connection and change the channel number to either 9 or 11…. worked for me neway and sometimes it cuts out and what u do then is change it to the other number, for e.g if u were on 9 then it stops connecting change it to 11 vice versa.. hope this helps

Hi I can get my iphone 3g to connect to my orange router. It took about 3 min’s with your tips thanks.
What I can’t do is send emails from my iphone. Even though I can receive emails can you help?
CHRIS IS DA MAN. After 10 failed attempts, chris (comment 6) sorted me right out. well done mate.
I’ve tried a few times and failed, but I’m 90% sure I’ve just entered something wrong. You really think Apple would have considered a caps lock, as Nokia have done for donkeys years. Holding down that tiny, tiny shift key is a pain in the ass.
I despise Orange and their pathetic ‘customer service’. I’m counting the days until I can move on to another provider.
this tip didnt work for me. I have tried this pairing before with laptops so I know im doing it right, any other tips?
Awesome cheers Chris! At first I was just clicking safari and then clicking on the wireless network to put the WEP key in, after 5 or 6 attempts I decided to try entering it into the settings tab and it worked! You need to put it in from the following screen: settings > wi-fi > Livebox-XXXX.
Pressing shift before each alpha character and Holding button 1 for 3 seconds.
Now I just need to work out how to get it to work on EDGE. Any tips would be appreciated
thanx to chris and all the people that confirmed his list i have now got my iphone working on my Livebox
EXELLENT ADVISE THANK YOU VERY MUCH KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
Thanks all,
Ensure you have pressed the 1 button on the back of the box for a few seconds to allow it to pair.
Then connect and enter WEP/WPA passphrase if set
This sorted the problem for me!
Thanks
Steve
hi just got I phone , and having same problem…not connecting to wifi with my orange live box, so thought check on the net and found this site……..great work for all.
but please do help me as i still not able to connect my iphone with livebox, please tell me which password i have to put when i phone ask ? is this a long key on the live box ( cle de security ) or some other passwords…….and everyone talking about pressing button 1 on the back for few seconds but i dont have this one on my live box ( mine is new one , the smaller live box ) is this change to others……..i really appreciate if someonhelps me……..cheers to all
Thanks, due to my location and range of livebox I turned off the password. This just left me to press ‘1′ on my livebox as in Chris’ post. Sorted out my iphone straight away (yes, on a livebox).
well done, thanks, problem solved in 30seconds !!
Thanks again
ahad this is the wifi button on new livebox
Yea only had the iphone 1hr and had loads of trouble connecting it. BUT i’m now connected fine. You need to keep to wep code in uppercase thats what i wasn’t doing the 1st 20 times. You must continually keep pushing the shift key on the iphone and hopefully it’ll work fine. Good Luck. Baz
I always appreciate proper posts like this, it’s pleasing to know I can add another site to my bookmarks and have something to check up on.
Finally got mine working! Just a matter of typing in WEP key (case sensitive) with no spaces! That’s what I was doing wrong!
Thanks a ton !! very helpful post!
Hey everyone - many thanks for this - some WEP advice below:-
Hold the 1 button on the back of the Livebox down for 3 or 4 seconds until the wifi light flashes quickly. You are now in pairing mode (for about 10 mins)
Type in your WEP UPPER CASE NO SPACES WITH ZEROS NOT ‘OH’S. You should now connect.
If you have an iPhone that has the COPY/PASTE function it’s best to type your WEP into the notebook app (at least this way you can see that you have it correctly transposed) and then paste it into the wifi connection window. Of course, this will save you time too should you ever need to do this again.
My Orange iPhone had connected to the Livebox without a hitch for a couple of weeks until tonight. My WiFi Sony Vaio started to drop out every couple of weeks or so recently too and I have spent many hours on the phone to Bangalor (Orange Help!) trying to solve it. Moe’s earlier post sums up all they really tell you:-
” what u do is go into livebox configuration (username “admin” password “admin”) then security, wireless connection and change the channel number to either 9 or 11…. ”
Whilst you may not need to do this to connect to your iPhone (try the first option..err…first!) if all else is failing give it a try.
To get to Livebox Configuration just type 192.168.1.1 into your internet browser. Passwords as above. Once you have clicked Security and Wireless Connection you can change channels PLUS you will also see your WEP Key. As you will see it is in CAPS, NO SPACES and the letters only go up to F so a 0 is a ZERO and not an ‘oh’. Change to Chanel 9 or 11, hit pairing button 1 on Livebox, enter WEP in iphone, and….voila…surf away.
God knows, and Orange certainly don’t know, why this happens!!
Hope this helps x
Good luck and big balls (as they say on the tv) xxxx
AAAHHHH! Thanks so much Chris - like many others I’ve been trying for ages to connect my iphone, and getting more and more frustrated. Totally forgot about holding down the 1 button. I’m now connected and happy man. Chris - I’m opening a beer and the toast is to you buddy!
dam this is going on my twitter great info.
same problem. I am pressing the 1 button on livebox but lock icon stays on the iphone even though box is flashing. Must be bit dense but where are you guys putting the WEP number. In the phone? if so where?
