How long does it take to charge battery on an IPhone?

October 19th, 2007,under iPhone battery

How long does it take to charge the battery on an IPhone?
When I plug in my IPhone to charge it,will it read “charging”?
How will I know when it is done?Will it read “charging done”?
(My other cell phone reads “battery charging,power off and it reads charging completed when it is done,therefore I always know) I just got the 8g Fri.,June 29 and am still learning.
