how to turn off iphone 3g predictive text? will you turn off your iphone 3g predictive text ? iphone 3g has prediction language function, but it sometimes annoying. I frequently switch between englisch and german, and always have to reject the iPhones corrections, because they are for the wrong language.

At least the prediction language should be tied to the keyboard I’m using (now: German), not to the overall system language (now: english). The worst is when I’m trying to enter a stock symbol for a trade and don’t realize that the iPhone has just changed my entered ticker symbol! That would be terrible to end up buying the wrong stock!

this is a simple way to turn off iphone 3g predictive text. What you do is hold the power button down until the power off slide comes up, swipe the slide and voila, predictive text is off. Of course, so is the iPhone

  1. I agree with you…I was very excited about getting my new iPhone 3G…but it really annoys me sometimes…specially the predictive text, as I also type in various languages, and then it just replaces the word by itself…I’m concentrating soo much on typing the correct letters on the small keyboard that I sometimes only realise after sending the messages that it replaced the words and then the message doesn’t make sense…and then I have to re-send, which costs money… :-o

Another annoying feature is that I cannot seem to rotate the keyboard when typing a message…can this be done?

    Come-on Apple…pls fix these things…

  2. on iphone to turn off predictive text go to settings then to general then to keyboard the slide auto correction to off

  3. Hi all!

THE solution IMOHO, would be to inverse their newest scheme… Whent Iphose propose a word, ons should tap the suggested word when it actialy is right…

  4. How can i delete predictive names when typing an email to somebody? for example when you type a new email and type the first letter of that persons name it comes up with the suggestions of email addresses you have domailed in the past? can this be turned off, ignored or will rest get rid of addresses in the memory. I can’t seem to find anything that removes these address?
