iPhone cannot connect to Exchange Outlook Web Access ( OWA ) in my company. my company will not activate POP or IMAP on their Exchange mail server. I am stuck with using their OWA interface into Exchange. However, when I enter the web address for OWA it never gets there. The iPhone will get to the login screen, but can never access the web interface.

Safari appearantly does not support access to password protected sites on IIS6, cause that problem happens on all sites hosted on our server (Win 2003, IIS6).

If you browse to the OWA address from a Microsoft Windows system using Internet Explorer, does it bring you to a web form to login or do you get a Windows login popup (NTLM)?
I have tried accessing OWA where Exchange is not setup for a “forms” web page login, but rather popping up a windows login box to enter username and password.
It worked.

  1. Hello!

I had the same problem, but it’s now solved for me:
go to “MS Exchange system Manager”, open “administrative groups” -> “First Administrative Group” -> “Servers” -> “Server Name” -> “Protocols” -> “HTTP”, then Right Click “Exchange Virtual Server” and on the “Settings” Tab Click “Enable Forms Based Authentication”. This will change the web interface, but i tried this and worked…

  2. Safari can access password protected IIS sites just fine. I use my Macs to check my work e-mail all the time.

  3. Enabling forms bases authentication worked for me as well.

  4. Laszlo, thanks for your post. Question, where do I find the “MS Exchange system Manager”? On my iPhone or on my server?
