iphone car kit echo problem

I have a Nokia CK-7W car kit installed in my car, has always worked seamlessly with a variety of cellphones ( nokia, sony etc ) - have just got the 8gb iphone in the UK and in the car it sounds great. However, whoever I’m calling complains of a bad echo on their end of the conversation. Turning the volume down in car helps subdue this but doesn’t solve it.

The problems I experienced with the CK-7W and Nokia 6300 (see earlier post above) seem to have been resolved with a Nokia software update for the 6300 (v 5.5), I read somewhere that the Nokia software update fixed a problem with the 6300 handset microphone staying active when connected to the CK-7W. All the echo problems seem to have stopped and callers agree the call quality is now improved.

I vaguely remember reading on these forums of someone reporting that adjusting the volume on the iPhone itself helped with echo problems.

Alternatively, have you tried turning down the speaker volume with the CK-7W control button when a call is active, this also may help.

I hope this is sorted for you soon, I know how frustrating these issues can be

  1. I face the same problem with my iPhone and Nokia CK-7W - I hear the ring and conversation very well but people complain about horrible echo of their own voice. Please help

  2. I face the the same problem with my iPhone (8gb, 1.1.1.) and Nokia CK-7W - I hear the ring and conversation very well but people complain about horrible echo of their own voice while talkin with me. Please help

  3. Sorry folks - some bad news. The echo is a result of incompatibility of some phones with the Nokia CK-7W carkit (it also happens with my Blackberry Pearl). Nokia have no solution - they say there is no problem with their product as they are designed to work with Nokia products. The problem lies with the Nokia kit. As yet there is no resolution to the problem - you need to buy a new car kit (crazy, since the bluetooth technology was supposed to be any-brand compatible) sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

  4. I just bourght an Iphone 1.1.4 16 GB. I also have the Nokia CK-7W in my car. My problem is that the phone do not fine the nokia headset at all. It is just searching and searching…??

Does anyone know what the problem could be?

  5. Folks

I have had nothing but problems with the CK-7W and ended up binning it altogether. As someone else said the system is just incompatible with certain phones/pda. I had no end of awful echo issues when using a HW6515 pda and a Sony Ericsson phone. Honest opinion … take this hit on the install and go and get something else. Booo to Nokia! :0(

  6. I have had the same problem with the CK-7w. Had the kit for a number of years in two cars. Works perfect. Hower, my wife change her phone to a samsung and guess what callers complained of an Echo.

I emialed Samsung for a fix. They said it was not their problem and the phone was working as it should.

I emailed Nokie re the echo same responce. Not their problem.

    Nokia get your act together.

  7. My ipod 1G is my main iPod, Personal digital assistant and a whole lot more, and even has been ever since I bought it. It also function the latest iPod system software program, and also any app I need it to run. I’m working with it to post this comment right now. I’d point out it is really a lot more than just an “excellent hobbyist system” — it can be an wonderful iPod
