Is there a setting somewhere which will disable the iphone text message pop-up? it is very annoying.
The only way I know of to turn-off theiphone SMS preview is to enable Passcode Lock by going to Settings > General > Passcode Lock.
Once you enter your iphone passcode lock number, you’ll be given several options, one of which will be “Show SMS Preview.” It will be in the “on” position, but you will be given the option to turn it “off”.
iphone Text Message pop-up problem, It is a pain in the neck. When I am listening to music and txt message comes in the iPhone locks up. I do sometimes put it in airplane mode to prevent this.

I am seeing the same thing. I dont like this at all… The suggestion above works as long as the phone is off, and will still pop up, only with the senders name. If its on, it still pops up with the senders name and part of the message. This is a terrible feature and the only way I can see to prevent it is to download third party software to jailbreak it and possibly void any warranty, just to install another version of SMS that does not do this.
